Spencer’s folk, blues, and gospel performances have entertained, educated and touched audiences for over 30 years. Since he last performed in Memphis, Spencer has released his latest CD, Live at the Tube Temple, and is working on two more CD's. In addition to an active concert schedule, he continues to host guitar workshops across the country, from Ohio to Montana and Wyoming, and he regularly performs his Down the Dirt Road Blues show to educate audiences at schools, universities, and museums about the shared history of blues and rock music. For this work, Spencer received the Keeping the Blues Alive in Education award from the Blues Foundation this year. Never one to sit still, he can also regularly be found on stage in New Orleans clubs. ![]() Dennis Stroughmatt et L’Esprit Creole Saturday, Oct 2 Dennis Stroughmatt’s high-energy band L’Esprit Creole bridges the gap between contemporary Canadian and Louisiana Cajun styles. Stroughmatt’s journey into Cajun and French Creole music, stories and language began in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, where he learned a blend of old-style French roots music, with infusions of Celtic bowing and Metis rhythms. Today, Dennis is a keeper of traditions in the old styles of both upper and lower Louisiana, a Creole fiddler, accordionist, speaker, historian, and foremost, musician.
